- Multi table tournaments are one of the most popular forms of online poker, because they give players a chance at a huge score with only a minimal investment. Early Stages MTT Strategy The early stages of a poker tournament are when you should be taking things easy and looking for simple opportunities to win pots.
- The last phase of any poker tournament strategy is open shoving spots. This is the final stage where your primary goal is to double to keep fighting for the title. If the relative stack size is down to 10 BB you have only two options – fold or raise all-in.
- Stack sizes are one of the most important aspects of MTTs. For example, a lot of people overvalue pocket pairs with a mid stack. Most online poker tournaments aren’t very deep-stacked, so unless both the initial raiser and you are deep-stacked, you probably can’t play pocket Sevens profitably to an early position raise.

Online Multi-Table Tournaments (MTT’s) have “arrived” in a big way. Whether it’s 4:00 in the afternoon or early-morning, chances are there will be more than a few MTT’s starting up across the major poker sites.
If you really want to get good at MTTs and move up the stakes than I recommend using a poker tool.
Pokerfives, (previously PokerPwnage) is hands down the best MTT training site in my opinion, and has 500 over MTT videos that you can watch and learn from. Watch unique videos by Matt “mattg1983” and Graham Jon “sketchy1” Eaton on chipping up, blind stealing and squeeze play, or you can even watch re-runs and sessions of major events like the Stars Sunday Million and Full Tilt Poker’s GTD events.
